Mama & Papa need a lil' time off from being, well, mama and papa, so we became Judy & Jules again this afternoon, thanks to a couple of friends who offered to watch our daughter, Wilder, for us, so that we could enjoy the beautiful day on Kauai.
Kayak Hanalei is located right at the river, so it's easy to get into your kayak or on your stand-up paddleboard and make your way up 2.5 hours or down towards the sea for 1.5 hours. Though I've been living on island for three years and drive over this river each time I cross the bridge into Hanalei, I had no idea that it went that far up. We didn't go all the way, given time constraints, but the great thing about Kayak Hanalei is that you have a 24-hour rental period, so you can go back the next day and continue your journey. They have kama`aina deals too for 25% off the rental price.
We stopped to do a little yoga and dip our feet into the water. It's breathtaking either direction you take and a wonderful date day opportunity!
P.S. Stop by Wishing Well Shave Ice. They now have cold-brewed coffee and organic homemade shave ice flavors! We got the POG (pineapple orange guava) in a nice lil' recyclable cup and it was delicious! Service was super friendly, too.
