Staycation Adventure!

MasterCard hired me to write a series of articles for their "Priceless Cities" campaign -- after they discovered me through this blog!! -- and not only did I spend this past week doing amazing adventures (helicopter ride, zip lining, inner tubing), I was also invited to stay at the St. Regis!

As part of their press trip for me, the St. Regis booked us into a suite -- complete with resplendent views of Hanalei Bay and Hideaways. We were also offered butler service!

Nothing like waking up in a plush robe, amazing husband, happy baby, and incredible views of Kauai.

The surf this past weekend was epic, too!  If I didn't feel so lazy on Saturday, I would've rented a board from their Activitied Center or asked my friend to bring one down (he lives right up the way).

Our ohana also had an opportunity to dine at the Makana Terrace & Kauai Grill. I'll be returning to the latter later this month, when they introduce the new chef who was born and raised on Kauai, as an opportunity to pitch more pieces to Hawaiian publications.

Because we're traveling as a family, we requested an early dinner time for both restaurants -- and because of it, were seated prime time for epic views. Baby was in a Maya Wrap and passed out soundly when she finally got down (my husband and I passed her back and forth a few times while dining until that happened). Also, being that I'm a yoga teacher too and believer that babies are highly receptive to energies, I put a protective bubble around her in public, then at the end of the night, ask her to let go and return anything that doesn't belong to her while simultaneously calling back parts of her own spirit. My mother said my grandmother told her to do this for us too as babies, letting us know when we were heading home from outside adventures so we could prep ourselves for that.

We decided to walk to the little cove beside Hideaways, where my husband and I got married! At the time, Baby was a little bean in my belly. Now, she's a full-sized string bean!

 My fave duo.

My fave duo.

She's often looking up and observing everything around her. Maybe she already recognized where she was.

 Hmmm.

My husband and I are often incredibly busy -- launching projects big and small. So, we stayed and lounged at the property all weekend for our staycation. It was wondrous to be pampered, but truth be told, hubs likes roughing it a bit more. Me? I was happy as could be.

 Aloha!

TIP: If you're kama'aina (a local), you can join the Inner Circle club. Just fill out a form at the front desk, and you'll get access to discounts at the spa, restaurants & cafe (except alcohol), and hotel room.
