This past weekend, our friend invited us to explore the waterfall in Kalihiwai, right near where we live, so we took Wilder for her first freshwater experience.
We tried to take a photo on a fallen tree branch, until I stepped on and then it broke. Jules does Parkour, so it was nothing to him, but we were all glad that nothing major happened!
Once you get to the top of the falls, you'll see spectacular views — just be mindful that if you want to jump into the ocean, do it when there are absolutely no waves. You DO NOT want to get swept out to sea — and again, Kauai's waters are no joke! A good rule of thumb? If you're uncertain, DON'T DO IT, especially if you don't see anyone else in the water.
What's amazing about Kauai is how there can be fresh water falling right before salt water. We took this opportunity to clean Wilder's tushie, because she did indeed go #2 after I fed her.
We used the Boba wrap we have, but it got a little hot, which is why Wilder was napping. Who doesn't feel sluggish in heat? We plan to invest in a sturdier backpack to bring Wilder around. She's only two months old, so we have a little time for her to hold her head more upright. We brought a sunhat for her and sunblock (we'll be trying Boudreaux's Butt Paste with zinc, because our doula mentioned that as a more natural alternative).
